Hike Itinerary (Subashiri Trail)

Day 1: Ascent to Taiyokan Mountain Hut

📍 Meeting Point: Subashiri 5th Station (trail start)
🕘 Reporting Time: 9:00 AM (Japan time)

We begin our adventure from the Subashiri Trail 5th Station, one of the most scenic and less crowded starting points on Mount Fuji. After a short briefing and preparation, we start our steady ascent through forest trails, volcanic terrain, and breathtaking alpine landscapes.

The Subashiri Trail is known for its peaceful atmosphere, beautiful forested lower section, and gradual elevation gain that makes it a favorite among trekkers looking for a more natural and less commercial climb experience.

Once we reach the hut, we check in, rest, and prepare for the summit push. The evening includes dinner at the mountain hut and time to relax, recover, and enjoy the high altitude mountain environment.

Night Stay at Mountain Hut

After dinner, rest early and get some sleep as the summit push begins in the early morning hours.


Day 2: Summit Push & Descent

🕑 Wake up: Around 2:00 AM
🌄 Start summit climb: Shortly after preparation

We begin the final ascent under the stars with headlamps, heading towards the summit of Mt Fuji to witness one of the most unforgettable sunrises above the clouds.

After reaching the summit, spend time soaking in the views before starting the descent back down the Subashiri Trail, completing an epic 2D1N adventure.

What is the difficulty level of this hike?

This is a moderate to challenging high altitude hike. No technical climbing is involved, but stamina, mental strength, and slow steady pacing are important due to altitude and long ascent hours.

Do I need prior trekking experience?

No prior trekking experience is required. Basic fitness and the ability to walk for several hours uphill is enough, though prior hiking experience will make it more comfortable.

How fit do I need to be for this trek?

You should be reasonably active and comfortable with long walks or hikes. Regular walking, stair climbing, or weekend hikes will help a lot.

Where is the meeting point?

We meet at Subashiri 5th Station at 9 AM Japan time, which is the starting point of the Subashiri Trail.

Is food provided during the hike?

Dinner on Day 1 and breakfast on Day 2 are provided at the mountain hut. All other meals and snacks during the hike are on your own.

What is the accommodation like?

We stay in a basic shared mountain hut (Taiyokan Mountain Hut). It is simple, warm, and designed for resting before the summit push.

What time do we start the summit climb?

We wake up around 2 AM and start the final summit push shortly after, aiming to reach the summit for sunrise.

Is mobile network available on the trail?

Mobile signal is limited or not available in many sections of the trail and at higher altitude areas.

What happens if the weather is bad?
